Everyone needs a place to start and a place they can afford to stay.
But across Wisconsin, finding that place has become harder. We simply don't have enough housing for people to build a life here or to stay as their needs change.
That's why increasing Wisconsin's housing supply has been a priority for the REALTOR® Party. And this year, that work helped turn five housing proposals into five new Wisconsin laws. The WRA teamed up with the Wisconsin Builders Association and and the League of Wisconsin Municipalities to create simple, easy-to-use fact sheets for each new law. The fact sheets break down what changed, why it matters and what communities and housing partners need to know.
Each new law tackles the housing challenge a little differently. To review further details, click each law to download the fact sheet.
Residential TIDs (Act 235): Helps communities finance infrastructure needed for new entry-level housing.
WHEDA Loan Modifications (Act 237): Makes workforce housing financing more flexible and easier to use.
Plat Review (Act 68): Helps create a clearer, more predictable subdivision approval process.
Truth in Planning (Act 173): Better aligns local zoning decisions with community comprehensive plans.
Neighborhood Improvement Districts (Act 120): Expands options for financing residential infrastructure and neighborhood improvements.
Passing these laws was an important step. Now, it’s time to put them to work. Because at the end of the day, this isn't just about five new laws. It's about creating more opportunities for people to find a place to start, a place to stay and a place to call home.
