Out-of-State Licensees
Licensees holding an active real estate broker license in another state and wish to get licensed in Wisconsin are required to complete the following Wisconsin licensing education requirements to obtain a Wisconsin broker license.
Out-of-state licensees may obtain a Wisconsin broker license by endorsement if you have been licensed as a broker in another state for at least two years within the last four years.
How do I obtain a broker's license by endorsement?
1. Satisfy ONE of the following requirements:
Complete the 6-hour Broker Course On Demand AND the 13-hour Sales Course On Demand.

(If you already hold a Wisconsin salesperson license, you do not have to pass the Wisconsin salesperson exam.)6-hour Broker Course — On Demand
Complete 20 semester hour credits in real estate or real estate-related law courses from an accredited institution of higher education.
Submit proof that you are licensed to practice law in Wisconsin.
2. Pass the Wisconsin salesperson exam AND the Wisconsin broker exam.

3. Submit an application online to the DSPS
Submit an application online through the DSPS LicensE system, including supporting documents and fees. See the application for licensure section for a list of requirements.
Applicants applying for a Wisconsin sales or broker license will need to show proof of their current license when submitting their application to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
