ZipForm Program Update 5.1.5 Available May 8
by Kristi Mikalsen
The following fixes and enhancements to ZipForm will be released in early May. There are several options for updating your program: the automatic update feature built into ZipForm, the help menu of ZipForm, or through
www.zipform.com or
www.wra.org.
Fixes
1. NT Memory Errors
In certain situations on NT based systems, using the "X" button to close the ZipForm software would cause a program crash resulting from a memory error. The way that ZipForm closes has been altered to correct this problem.
2. Edit Header
Occasionally, changing information in a form, such as the buyer's name, would not immediately update the information in the transaction header and/or transaction index. This has been corrected.
3. Update Transaction Index
The transaction index is now immediately updated when data is imported from Outlook and/or Top Producer.
4. Amortization Export to Excel
ZipForm will no longer close if the user attempts to export an amortization table into Excel, if Excel is not installed on their system.
5. Unlock Transaction
ZipForm will no longer close if the user attempts to unlock a transaction with an incorrect password.
6. Street Names in Index
Street names now appear in the transaction index.
7. Clause Editor Error
The Clause Editor will no longer give a "List Index Out of Bounds" error when attempting to edit and save the title of a clause.
8. Override Date Fields
Date fields may now be overridden and filled with free form text without giving an "invalid date format" message.
9. Library Sharing on Networks
On some network installations, if a user was accessing a library, it became unavailable to other users on the network. This issue has been resolved and the libraries are now fully shareable.
10. Form Selection in the Form Manager
When the Form Manager was closed, either the last form accessed or the first form in the transaction was opened. Now the form that was added or selected in the Form Manager is automatically opened.
Enhanced Features
1. Confirm Password
A confirm password box has been added to the User Manager.
2. Improved Form Page Navigation
Next and Previous "VCR"-type buttons have been added to the Form Viewer. Typing in a page number in the space between the buttons will allow the user to immediately jump to that page.
3. Form Search
A search button has been added to the Form Manager. Users may search for forms by form titles or numbers. By default, a search is done on all the forms in a particular library. By unchecking the "Search through All Forms" checkbox, a search will be restricted to only the forms currently displayed in the Form Manager.
4. Transaction Search
A search button has been added to the Transaction Manager. Users may search for transaction by the address, buyer or seller.
5. Multiple Transaction Delete
Multiple transactions may be deleted at a time by holding the CTRL key while selecting them.
6. Delete Key
Transactions may now be deleted in the transaction manager by selecting them and hitting the keyboard delete key.
7. Auto Update Improvement
Auto Update now presents the user with a choice to continue or cancel before it attempts to connect to the Internet. Users also have an option to change their auto-update preferences whenever auto-update is run.
8. New Template Feature
There is now an option in the file menu to create a new template without first starting a transaction.
9. Strikeouts
Strikeouts will automatically turn off if the user attempts to edit a field. This will solve the problem whereby users would forget to turn off their strikeouts and begin entering data thus causing random strikeouts throughout the form.
10. Temporary Location
Transactions are now created in a temporary location. They do not get moved into their permanent location until the user has saved them. Similarly, when editing a transaction, a copy of the transaction is moved to the temporary location. This copy is what is actually
edited. The copy replaces the original transaction in the permanent location once it is saved. The effect of these changes is that transactions are no longer automatically created. Users can now preview forms and create templates without automatically creating transactions. Also, changes made to transactions will no longer automatically save. Users will now have to manually save a transaction before their changes are made permanent.
11. Enhanced Templates
Templates may now be applied to a transaction at any time by selecting the "Tools -> Apply Template" option or clicking the "Apply Template" button in the toolbar. Multiple templates may also be applied to a transaction.
12. Templates with Outlook/Top Producer
Users may now apply templates to transactions that are created by importing data from Outlook or Top Producer.
13. Browse Transaction
A "Browse for Transaction" button has been added to the Transaction Manager. This button will allow users to search for transactions that have been saved outside of the normal locations
14. File Names
An additional option to choose the name of the transaction file has been added to the header window. Users may now name their transaction files to make them more easily identifiable. If this field is left blank, the standard .zfx format will be used.
15. Auto-add Cover Sheet
When users create a new transaction they will be required to select a library. If they do not add any forms to the transaction then that libraries cover sheet will be automatically added to the transaction.
16. Remove Last Form
The ability to remove the last form in a transaction has been disabled. This has been done to ensure the integrity of the data.
